I fear I have turned into a self-establishing meme. My family thought they were hilarious, buying me the Grammar Police game for Christmas; however, I’m now constantly disputing some of the game’s grammar and appear to have become the subject of mockery and ridicule. Strangely no one wants to play it with me anymore! The thing is, I’m not wrong, but nor are the makers of the game. There are multiple ways of punctuating a sentence. There are multiple forms of English too, with grammatical and syntactical structures that vary from place to place. There are also multiple style guides that give their preferences. So, with grammar right/wrong, correct/incorrect can be more a question of style than anything set in stone.
